About Me

Hello! My name is Abby Sokol, and I'm so happy you're here! I currently am an Advanced Teaching Artist Fellow at The Rose Theater in Omaha, Nebraska. I graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and Psychology, and a Minor in Education, Teaching, and Learning.

I started in theatre at a young age as a performer, and have continued in the art, expanding my training in roles such as director, teacher, administrator, dramaturg, and assistant stage manager. In the Teaching Artist Fellowship at The Rose Theater, my main focuses are directing musicals and plays, teaching classes at The Rose locations and in schools, learning about and implementing accessibility programming, and performing in our touring production.

I highly value work in educational leadership, and held the role of President of a musical theatre student organization at Miami University for two years. I also am grateful to have had the opportunities to pilot theatre programming at an Ohio middle school, serve as a theatre for young audiences research associate, and work in my college theatre department office as a student assistant.

Overall, I am passionate about supporting people. I love to share my care for others, and one outlet for me to do this is through the beautiful art of teaching theatre. I am always looking to learn and grow personally and professionally through varied opportunities!

On a personal note, I love my family back in Chicago (where I will return soon!), including my dog, a black lab mix. I love watching TV, reading mystery books, eating good food, and spending time with loved ones. Thank you for taking the time to read about me and visit my website!
